Pre-Pointe assessments (In-Person & Online)
Going on pointe is a big milestone but itβs also a big physical shift. Our pre-pointe assessments are designed to check that you have the strength, control, and technique to move safely into this next stage of your ballet training.
We donβt take a tick-box approach. We look at the full picture; your injury history, turnout range, ankle strength, core control, and dance background then build a plan that supports your development, not just your feet.
After the session, weβll provide a written report to you (and your parent or teacher), with practical recommendations and clear next steps.
Preparing for pointe shoes? Letβs make sure your body is ready to reduce your risk of injury
What to expect at your pre-pointe assessment
History & goals: Weβll discuss your training load, injury history, and dance goals.
Technique check: Weβll assess alignment, control, and how your body is moving.
Strength & mobility testing: Weβll look at specific measures for turnout, ankle range, rise endurance, and more.
Exercise plan: Youβll get targeted exercises to address any areas that need strengthening if choosing our extended assessment option.
Report & communication: You'll take a summary home with you to share with your parents and Dancer Teachers
Follow-up sessions: Weβll check your progress, refine your exercises, and support you toward pointe readiness.
We offer in-person appointments at our Bibra Lake clinic (near Fremantle, WA) or we can perform the assessment online across Australia.
We also offer appointments at our pop-up clinic at John Curtin College of the Arts to specifically support their dance and ballet students.
