AOK KEEP MOVING
Move for Life
I'm AOK - Alex O'Neill-King - Pilates Instructor, Physiotherapist and movement educator.
As an injured teenager dancer, I was introduced to Pilates as a rehabilitation tool by my Physiotherapist. Thankfully this allowed me to keep dancing for many more years - fuelling my movement curiosity.
It wasn't until almost a decade later that I discovered a new joy helping others keep moving.
I love being able to work with all different kinds people with all different movement problems - from circus performers and elite dancers to grandparents working hard to get back on their feet.
When I'm not treating or teaching you'll find me eating something delicious with friends, or having a solo kitchen dance party with the music up LOUD.
LET'S GET MOVING
An AHPRA and HCPC registered Physiotherapist, I have provided care within both the public and private sectors. I have experience working with people living with a range of conditions including Neurological, Orthopedic and Cardiorespiratory, as well as across a broad spectrum of ages.
My patient-centered treatment approach emphasises the importance of movement for every body. My goal is to empower people to take control of their health, and be the strongest possible version of themselves - while having some fun along the way.
Teaching since 2011, I gained my Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction in 2013 and am fully qualified on all studio apparatus. In 2017 I was introduced to the Classical method and have since been on a world-wide professional development tour deepening my understanding of the richness of Joseph Pilates original work.
I love teaching Semi-privates and group classes, but find the extra personal attention I can provide in Private sessions especially rewarding.
I have experience presenting client workshops, as well as Professional Development workshops for Pilates colleagues. Topics covered include The Shoulder Complex, Breathing, Pelvic Floor + deep abdominal activation, spinal extension and re-grounding the feet.
My love of anatomy & physiology, along with my vast movement experience, allow me to tailor workshops to a range of audiences.
